Building your Personal Brand is very important for any professional. Simple things as how you dress, how you talk, your attitude etc. leaves an impression of who you are on every person you meet. This impression can be both positive or negative, so let's ensure that you leave a POSITIVE one.

Three Tips for creating/maintaining a positive Personal Brand...

Pay attention to your dress-code - If you were to walk into an office, and you saw the Manager wearing an above the knee pants and a old vest, what would be your first impression of him? You must always ensure that your attire suits the occasion. Every piece of clothing leaves an impression, so DRESS FOR SUCCESS. (ALWAYS!)

Know yourself - Ask yourself, who am I? What  am I good at and how can I use my talent/skills to truly benefit myself and the company I'll like to work for? Your talent/skills helps to set you apart from the crowd. So, do some soul searching! A company can be looking for someone just like you!

Manage your social media pages well - Ensure that your social media accounts always project you in a positive light, because future bosses or business partners can possibly see the pictures and statuses you may post.  Think of it this way, if you were hiring someone, what would seem as red flags if you were to check out their social media account.

Your Personal Brand is very essential to the success of your career, so be careful  when creating it!

In my experience as an HR Practitioner, first impressions, often garnered from your appearance, does have an impact on the way people see you. In an interview situation, the greatest impression is made in the first 5 minutes of the interview, further testimony to the importance of one's appearance.
The rule of thumb is dress appropriately for the position and sector in which you're applying for a job.
